as far as i am aware, it's not within the power of the australian royal commission to call as a witness a non-australian.
it is confined to dealing with the jws and child abuse as it is handled within australia.
it is clear from the testimonies so far that it is the branch office that gives the elders direction as prescribed ultimately by the governing body.. there are two witnesses who have been called up to attend the rc from the branch office in sydney, one is rodney spinks from the service desk and the other is vincent o'toole, overseer of the legal department.
I think someone should make the court aware that Geoffrey Jackson is indeed Australian.
You would think that the RC has enough power to get him over.
What are he chances of 7 GB members, and one just happens to be Australian?

the press is reporting that over 1,000 cases of abuse were hidden from authorities in australia.. australia has around 68,000 publishers.. if you that ratio applied to the u.s. also, there could be over 14,700 cases that were covered up here.. if the ratio held the same worldwide, that would be over 117,600 cases.. just let that sink in a little..
I think they have been given an impossible task IMHO
What confuses me, is if these guys think its impossible, and are stressed and don't agree with the "rules" in dealing with sex offenders, why didn't they all go on strike or something. Or refuse to work?
Safety in numbers. The GB can't get rid of all the lawyers and solicitors. It will be suicide for the GB.

i showed my 8-year old daughter a newspaper headline about it, and when she told my jw wife that the jws in australia were in trouble for not reporting over 1,000 child abusers to police, her response was "oh, really?
well, i don't know what the rules are over there.
the governing body have painted themselves in a corner, so to speak.
if they acknowledge their response to abuse claims was insensitive, unloving and inadequate they are denying the belief that "god's way" is best and risk losing abuse cases.
if they stick with it and say it is "god's way according to the bible" they will be seen as cult leaders and risk losing abuse cases.
I'm still in, and if any one breaths at word of this to me, i will full on tell them all the details.
There is going to be some very upset JWs in the next few weeks.

The obvious thing that is going to happen when them 3 guys from Australia bethel get grilled, is to pass the buck onto the GB.
Can the royal commission request any GB members for questioning? Could they work with the the U.S authorities in getting them over to Australia for questioning?
My guess it will be business as usuall for the GB, until this shit directly affects them personally. Then we might see some heads roll......maybe.
